According to FINRA reports, in July 2016 Brian Murphy's prior brokerage firm, Signator Investors, terminated Brian Murphy after he allegedly admitted to conducting what appeared to be an unapproved outside business activity. Shortly prior to that, also in July 2016, it was reported that a customer alleged Brian Murphy alleged that he created a bogus website in efforts to defraud and customer did not authorize the withdrawals in a variable annuity commencing on or about July 2010.
